CAISSA Spotlight: Meet Merissa

For this month’s spotlight, we’re profiling our Financial Planning Associate Merissa Perkins, who has been a part of our team since 2016.

What is your role at CAISSA?

I wear a lot of hats at CAISSA.  I primarily work as a financial planning associate but also have a hand in many other areas.  I assist with our marketing efforts, client service and reporting software management, as well as other areas as needed.

What gets you excited about your work?

I love working with people in all aspects and with financial planning. I feel like it can really help someone to sleep better at night knowing what their situation looks like at that point in time.

Why financial services?

Having worked in insurance, banking and finance for most of my career, I find that the financial services field, specifically financial planning is just a good fit for me and an area where I have a lot of passion.  My friends and family all laugh and poke fun at me because I have a tendency to be extremely “frugal.” I have always been this way, even as a child.  I have loosened the reigns a little bit as I have gotten older, trying to find a balance between saving but also enjoying life and spending a little bit of that hard-earned money creating memories. I enjoy helping clients to do this same thing because we all need to try and find that balance somehow.

How do you pass the time when you’re not in the office?

With two active kids, I spend most of my time running around with them.  Between school functions, sporting events and spending time with our friends and family; we don’t usually have much down time. But when we do have a few quiet moments, you will usually find me trying to do anything I can outdoors, especially in the warmer months.

What’s your personal motto?

I just try to live by the golden rule and treat others as I would like to be treated, take responsibility for my own actions and reactions, and do my best to remain humble and kind.
