May’s Note From Caissa – Summer Series Introduction
Summertime in MN – I don’t think there is a better place to be!
As summer starts to draw closer, you might be welcoming college kids back into the house; or maybe your little ones are starting to act like caged cats eager to get out of school. If you’re in either situation or something in between, you may want to think about talking to your kids about what their days are going to look like this summer. Will there be chores? Will there be allowance for those chores and if so, how much? By talking about it now and laying out the expectations of what their contribution to the household will be; you hopefully won’t have to spend all summer yelling at your kids to help out around the house!
This summer Caissa is extremely excited to offer a series on “Raising Financially Aware Kids.”
This program is inspired by the book Yes, You Can….Raise Financially Aware Kids from American Century Investments. If you have children or grandchildren between the ages of 3 and 18, or even college aged kids, you DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS!
In the series, we talk about everything from teaching your 3-4 year old about what a “chore” is to how you can explain to your college kids why and how to avoid signing up for a credit card just to get a bag of starburst because they’re starving between classes (ok, I did this in college. Yikes!).
We’ll wrap it up with an in person conversation about things you can do as your kids go BACK to school (get a power of attorney on those college grads!!) and how to raise a kid that understands the value of a buck.
Keep your eye out for more information and a save the date, which will be coming out soon!
I know in our house, the kids are headed to Grandpa’s farm. There is no better way to learn about how you want to earn your money. You can be the one picking up rocks in a corn field for 8 hours a day or you can be the owner of the farm managing how everything is going to get done. I picked up enough rocks in my life to make that decision quite easy.
